I went to the studio today to paint the far wall. Lara couldn't be there because an elderly man drove his car into a dorm room at RISD, and she had to take care of it. It was nice for me to be there alone for the first time, and to be doing something as simple as painting all the edges of the wall so that I could use a roller more easily. It was nice to go into a quiet focused mode while working on a very manual task. it was good to have some time just with myself. it was also nice to see the negative space of the particle board getting smaller and smaller as I rolled on the white primer, and to watch the shapes in the wood mutate. there was a big sheep, a moon, and a loaf of bread that came and went as I painted. I'll take some pictures tomorrow. here is one from early on when we first saw the space:
Also, here are the guardian goats from upstairs--reminants from a RISD thesis show...
More painting tomorrow?
